I just purchased a used machine for a hundred bucks and I've been working to refurbish it. It even came with the 517 template for the faceplate. The thing I'm most concerned about is the gearbox, which I'm scared to open up for fear of springs flying. Does anyone have any service advice beyond the parts schematic?

It is easy for me to say as it is not my money but the ideal solution was to have bought a proper panel saw with a professional fence then you could have simply bought a Panhans feeder. That’s fits quickly on to the fence. .

I tried this but it didn't work very well with birch plywood from Menards. The veneer is too thin. I won't be buying that again. What kind of plywood do you use?

Great vid. A situation that happens a lot, it's when you have a 2 in difference between two ends, especially when branch beams are involved.

I see that you use segmented poplar for most of your trim. Does it paint well? In some applications we Would 45 degree bevel rip the bottom so that you can block plane easier or even hand sand that scribe. Great job on the video!

Do you make it a habit not using eye protection at the table saw? One day the squints aren't going to cut it. Great build, just cringe when I don't see eye,ear or dust mask protection.

If anyone can figure this out for me, I would appreciate it. When i tried coping my crown, I would cut one piece straight and then the coped piece is mitered at 45 degrees, when matching it up the 45 piece is much longer than the straight piece, will never work.. I see so many videos of carpenters doing it this way, but it does not work for me. Any help is appreciated!

Is the 780 dewalts best 12 inch? Like is it the big dog ornis there a nicer option?

This method I also learned back in 2005 from my father when doing wall panels.. that's the proper way of doing it. But what happens when you have 68 windows and 40 of them ask for rolling the trim. It's called a hammer and shim. The shim is so you dont damage the sheetrock paper to much. The hammer.. well that's for hammering down the protruding sheet rock around the frame. Tricks of the trade when doing production trim carpentry.
